Around the NFL: Miller time in New Orleans

Kendre Miller got my attention today. I don’t think Alvin Kamara will be back next year (given his age and contract) and Miller looks like he might be ready to be the team’s main back.   more »

Saints RB Williams needs “some time” to recover from bad hammy

New Orleans Saints head coach Dennis Allen said on Tuesday that running back JAMAAL WILLIAMS will miss “some time” because of a hamstring injury suffered in Monday night’s game against theMore Carolina Panthers. The Saints will likely be signing running back TONY JONES to the active roster. Jones has been elevated from the practice squad the last two weeks and scored 2 touchdowns on Monday after Williams left the game. The Saints also hope to get KENDRE MILLER back from a hamstring injury eventually. Meanwhile, veteran rusher ALVIN KAMARA will be serving the final game of his suspension this week. Less

Saints RB Miller dealing with bad hammy

New Orleans Saints running back KENDRE MILLER is reportedly managing a new hamstring injury after a knee issue slowed him down throughout the summer. Saints head coach Dennis Allen didn’t doMore fantasy owners any favors on Thursday, declining to say whether Miller would be able to return in time for the season opener against the Tennessee Titans on September 10th. With Miller hobbled and ALVIN KAMARA suspended for the first three games of the season, the Saints will be thin in the running back room. Veteran running back JAMAAL WILLIAMS could be busy to start the season. Less

Saints RB Miller returns to practice

New Orleans Saints running back KENDRE MILLER was able to avoid a significant knee injury in last week’s preseason game, and he was able to return to practice on Thursday. FellowMore running back KIRK MERRITT had been sidelined with a hamstring injury, but he was also able to practice on Thursday. Getting both rushers back, along with signing veteran DARREL WILLIAMS, gives the Saints a much deeper running back room ahead of the team’s upcoming preseason game against the Los Angeles Chargers. Saints add free agent RB Williams

The New Orleans Saints signed free agent running back DARREL WILLIAMS after he worked out for the team earlier this week. The Saints needed running back help after KENDRE MILLER sufferedMore a knee sprain over the weekend. While Miller is not expected to miss extensive time, the Saints will be without veteran ALVIN KAMARA for the first three games of the season due to his suspension. Thus, the need for extra backfield depth. Less

Around the NFL: Mid-round running backs

A story over the weekend that Titans' 2022 fourth-round running back Hassan Haskins has been arrested on domestic violence charges. We'll see how that shakes out, but Tennessee had already hedged its bets on that pick by selecting Tyjae Spears in the third round this year. It got me wondering on the hit rate for running backs drafted in those rounds.   more »

Fantasy News: Rookie running backs

Four running backs were selected in the third round, and that’s a tricky area of the draft. Players selected in that area aren’t guaranteed to do much of anything. Trey Sermon and Tyrion Davis-Price, as recent examples, were picked in that round. But on the other hand, Alvin Kamara and Kareem Hunt were third-round picks.   more »

Fantasy News: Plan B

Rookie running backs can be slippery to evaluate. Particularly those selected in the later rounds. With the vast majority of these players, you’re not looking for overall value. You’re instead hoping you can latch onto a few viable games at some point during the season.   more »
