Around the NFL: Rashaad Penny

There hasn't been a lot of love for Rashaad Penny in early drafts. He's been injury prone, of course, and Seattle drafted Ken Walker in the second round. Penny missed some time last week due to a groin injury. Walker is being selected before Penny in most places. But that is probably about to change.   more »

Around the NFL: Seattle running backs

If you should wind up in a fantasy league with Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times, you'll likely have a hard time drafting Rashaad Penny. Seems like a strong possibility Condotta selects him first, since he believes a "realistic projection" has Penny getting 20 carries per game.   more »

Around the NFL: Ken Walker

A report out of Seahawk OTAs yesterday is that Rashaad Penny is dealing with a hamstring injury. Ordinarily not a big deal, with it being May, but it prompts a raised eyebrow given Penny's poor career track record of durability. And has me thinking about rookie Ken Walker.  more »

Seattle rookie RB Walker “a rocket” at first minicamp

Seattle head coach Peter Carroll described rookie running back KEN WALKER III as “a rocket” after his first day of the team’s three-day rookie minicamp. Carroll added that Walker “caught theMore ball really well”, something that he was not particularly known for in college last season at Michigan State. Walker could be a key figure in a revamped offense in the post-RUSSELL WILSON era – possibly emerging as the No. 2 running back in the Seahawks offense behind RASHAAD PENNY. Less

Around the NFL: Pennies on the dollar

I was surprised Rashaad Penny didn’t generate more interest in free agency. The Seahawks were able to re-sign him to a one-year deal worth $5.1 to $5.7 million, depending on how many games he plays.   more »

Seahawks re-sign RB Penny

The Seattle Seahawks agreed to terms with running back RASHAAD PENNY on a one-year deal worth up to $6.5 million with incentives. The oft injured (and annual fantasy sleeper) Penny hadMore a strong second half to the 2021 season. Penny was the team’s first-round pick in 2018 but had previously failed to live up to expectations. Penny reportedly turned down more money to remain with the Seahawks. Less

Factoid: Penny lovers

Rashaad Penny has quickly morphed from an intriguing possibility to one of the plums of free agency. He’s going to have a strong market if he hits unrestricted free agency in three months.   more »

Around the NFL: Grab a Penny stock

What now for Rashaad Penny? He’s been a disappointment for most of his four years in a Seattle, but he’s cranked up his game right as he’s hitting free agency.   more »

WR Metcalf, RB Penny tame Lions

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK METCALF caught a career-high 3 touchdown passes in Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions. Metcalf now has 12 touchdowns on the season, which is also aMore career high. It has been a strange season for the star wide receiver, who went six weeks without a touchdown catch during a mid-season offensive slump. Running back RASHAAD PENNY also had an impressive game, with 170 yards on 25 carries (both career highs) and 2 touchdowns as the oft-injured rusher gears up for free agency. Less

Seahawks RB Penny to lead backfield vs. Rams

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said on Monday that running back RASHAAD PENNY, coming off a career-high game against Houston, earned the chance to lead the backfield this weekend againstMore the Los Angeles Rams. Before fantasy owners rush too quickly to the waiver wire, it’s worth noting that Carroll also said the team would continue to “rotate to keep guys fresh”. While both Penny and Carroll have proven hard to trust in the past, it sounds like the oft-injured running back will have an opportunity in the weeks ahead. Less

Seahawks RB Penny shines vs. Texans

Seattle running back RASHAAD PENNY, the team’s oft-injured first round pick from 2018, had one of the best games of his career against the Houston Texans on Sunday. Penny ran forMore 137 yards on just 16 carries while also scoring 2 touchdowns on behalf of his fantasy owners. It was just the third time in Penny’s four-year career that he topped 100 yards rushing. Time will tell if the Penny era has begun in Seattle, but fantasy owners should be aware that the Texans entered the week last in the NFL in rushing yards allowed. Less
