Burkhead activated off injured reserve

The New England Patriots activated running back REX BURKHEAD off injured reserve on Monday. Burkhead, 28, has been on IR with a neck injury but he is now eligible to play this Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings. Burkhead joins an already full backfield along with SONY MICHEL and JAMES WHITE.

Rex Burkhead in concussion protocol

New England running back REX BURKHEAD is in the concussion protocol and did not practice with the team on Wednesday. His status for Sunday’s road game against the Jacksonville Jaguars is in question as the Patriots can’t seem to keep anyone healthy at the running back position.

What are realistic expectations for Sony Michel? He’s super talented, and he’s going to what’s been the league’s dominant team for the last 17 years. The way he ripped off chunks of yards in his final two games last year (against Oklahoma and Alabama) it’s reasonable to wonder if he might have a top-10 season in him.   more »

Burkhead the favorite for goal-line work

Patriots running back REX BURKHEAD is believed to be the early leader for goal-line work in New England. The Patriots also drafted SONY MICHEL in the first round and still have power back MIKE GILLISLEE on the roster, but the job is still believed to belong to Burkhead for now.
