Detroit signs free agent RB, but not who you might think
The Detroit Lions have been open about their interest in signing free agent running back TODD GURLEY, who has been in town to meet with the team. While Gurley is still… More under consideration, the Lions moved forward and signed free agent running back MICHAEL WARREN late last week. Warren passed on his final year of college eligibility at Cincinnati but went undrafted a year ago. He has had stints in Philadelphia, Carolina, and Washington since then – and now he heads to Detroit. Less

Around the NFL: LeVeon Bell
I saw a blurb go by where LeVeon Bell says he’s looking to play. I find him to be an interesting prospect. We might all be looking back in late August and wondering why we didn’t have him among our top 50 running backs in June. more »

Falcons sign free agent Patterson, cut RB Smith
The Atlanta Falcons signed kick returner CORDARRELLE PATTERSON on Thursday and the team is planning to have him play at the running back position. Patterson was drafted in 2013 as a… More wide receiver, but the versatile veteran has made his mark on special teams. Running back ITO SMITH finished last season atop the depth chart but was released by the Falcons on Thursday. Atlanta has not re-signed TODD GURLEY, last season’s starter, or backup BRIAN HILL. The Falcons did add MIKE DAVIS earlier this offseason from the Carolina Panthers, and he appears to be the likely starter heading into the 2021 season. Less

Falcons RB Gurley would like to stay in Atlanta
Atlanta Falcons running back TODD GURLEY said on Wednesday that he planned to reach out to new head coach Arthur Smith about the possibility of returning to the team for the… More 2021 season. Gurley was underwhelming for much of 2020 while playing under a one-year contract with Atlanta. Time will tell if the Falcons new leadership is interested in retaining Gurley, but the veteran back appears open to the possibility. Less

With Smith’s ascension into… More the starting role, 2017 NFL Offensive Player of the Year TODD GURLEY moves into a backup role. While Gurley does have 9 touchdowns this season, his role has steadily declined on a rushing offense that has struggled this season. Less

Factoid: Todd Gurley
I suppose I will have to concede defeat on Todd Gurley. He scored 9 TDs in his first nine games, so I think he’s outperformed where he was selected in drafts. At the same time, he’s been pretty dreadful. more »

Falcons RB Gurley scores 2 touchdowns, only meant to score 1
Atlanta Falcons running back TODD GURLEY scored 2 touchdowns in Sunday’s loss to the Detroit Lions, with the second score likely costing his team the game. Gurley meant to slide down… More to the turf short of the end zone on his second touchdown, a play that would have allowed the Falcons to run out the clock and win the game. Gurley instead stumbled into the end zone, much to the delight of his fantasy owners. The Lions, meanwhile, would win the game after driving for the winning score as time expired. Less
