Around the NFL: Sunday Night Football Takeaways

Kickers weren’t having the best day given the wind gusts that were swirling through at a rate of 25 miles per hour. I do think it did affect the quarterbacks in the first half, as there were very few deep shots taken. This also bodes well for going for it on fourth down when you’re in field goal range, just as the Jaguars did. I'm a fan of all things offense, so when I see a team going for it on fourth down, I get excited. Over the second half, it seemed that the wind died down, never to come back, much like the Jaguars' offense.  more »

Factoid: Jacksonville receivers

Jacksonville signed Christian Kirk and Zay Jones to nice free agent contracts, but I’m not confident those guys will post good numbers. When Doug Pederson was coaching in Philadelphia, after all, the wide receivers weren’t all that involved in the offense.   more »

Around the NFL: Raiders sign Jackson

The Raiders have agreed to a contract with DeSean Jackson, and I like the fit. They’re in need of another receiver who can get down the field, and Jackson can help them there.  more »

The Las Vegas Raiders placed wide receiver TYRELL WILLIAMS on injured reserve after he suffered a torn labrum earlier in training camp. Bills trade WR Jones to Raiders

Fantasy owners holding onto wide receiver ZAY JONES (hey, it’s possible) got some good news on Monday. The Buffalo Bills traded Jones to the Oakland Raiders. Jones had largely been phasedMore out of the Buffalo offense this season, but he will have a chance for a new start in Oakland. The Raiders have been hit hard by injuries to their wide receiving corps, so Jones could have a role with his new team sooner rather than later. Less

John Brown impressing early in camp

Buffalo wide receiver JOHN BROWN has been the story of training camp thus far for the Bills. Brown and free-agent acquisition COLE BEASLEY have been the top two targets, with ZAY JONES also running with the first-team unit. Second year wideout ROBERT FOSTER appears to be the fourth wideout.

Around the NFL: Cole Beasley

I’m not a big Cole Beasley fan. I don’t expect him to make much of an impact in Buffalo. Nonetheless, I’m seeing plenty of articles going by suggesting that he’s a key pickup for the Bills.   more »

Around the NFL: Brown blows off Bills

Woke up Friday morning to a report that the Steelers were going to trade Antonio Brown to the Buffalo Bills. Within two cups of coffee, also known as an hour, that deal was dead, reportedly because Brown indicated he wouldn't go there. It's the latest blow in what's been a bad decade for Buffalo and wide receivers.   more »

Factoid: John Ross

Let me dip back into John Ross, who either is or isn’t being shopped around by the Bengals. Ross is really fast, but he’s been really unproductive in his first two seasons.  more »

Factoid: Robert Foster

At times last year, wide receiver seemed to be a glaring need for the Buffalo Bills, but they have a pair of youngsters they might be able to rely on in coming years. Zay Jones was a lot better in his second season, and they may have stumbled onto something special in Robert Foster.   more »
