Ian Allan answers your fantasy football questions. In this edition: Can Aaron Rodgers make a run at the single-season record for touchdown passes? Is T.J. Yeldon a major sleeper at running back? And how does a reader get chosen to participate in the Mock Draft or Experts Poll in the magazine?

Question 1

The GB coaching staff are gushing over how good Davante Adams looks this year. With that in mind how good will Rodgers be this year? I have a hunch he could be in line to break the TD record. What do you think, Ian? Is his O-line good enough for that?

David Kennedy (Steamburg, NY)

That’s a pretty impressive unit. The offensive line isn’t great, but it’s good enough. The skill guys are mind-blowing. Lacy, Nelson, Cobb, Adams. Nelson is 30, and he’s the old guy. The others are all young, but they’ve also all been in the system, so they’ve got the deal where everyone knows what they’re doing. I think the Packers will lead the league in scoring. That bodes well for Rodgers, but I don’t think it’s realistic to even think about him challenging for the touchdown record. It’s at 55 touchdowns right now. But there’s a chance Rodgers really catches fire and puts up something like 44 TDs. And if he does that, most of us will be wishing we had selected him sooner.

Question 2

Who is on the cover of the 2015 FF Index Magazine? What are you thoughts on T.J. Yeldon as a three-down back?

Rob Dammers (Ringwood, NJ)

We’ve got Andrew Luck on the cover this year. He’s our No. 1 quarterback. As for Yeldon, they’ve been talking him up down in Jacksonville. The team supposedly he’s the third franchise runner in the draft – up there in the first tier with Todd Gurley and Melvin Gordon. That’s why they took him early in the second round. But I don’t see it. He looked pretty ordinary to me at Alabama last year, running for 979 yards and averaging 5.0 yards per carry. He ran for only 59 and 47 yards in the games against Florida and Missouri, averaging under 3.4 yards per carry. That’s on a talent-laden team that was challenging for the national championship. I’ve got to think that a lot of backs we haven’t even heard of (from smaller schools) would have been just as good or better running in that offense. Not a guy I have much interest in. Won’t surprise me at all if Denard Robinson is the best running back on that team.

Question 3

I read your magazine yearly and was wondering how does one get a chance to draft vs the experts in your yearly football snake drafts or auction draft?

Nic Dolas ()

We have two contests. The Fantasy Index Super League. That’s the one where you pick a starting lineup each week. The top two finishers earn berths in the Mock Draft and the Mock Auction leagues in the magazine. We also have the Fantasy Index Open, where you submit a top 20 at each position (QB RB WR TE K and Def), with the top two finishers winning spots in the Experts Poll. Once in the Experts Poll, the top 11 finishers in that competition get spots in the Mock Draft.

Question 4

I am debating on who to keep after Keenan Allen and Jordan Matthews. I can keep two more and I debating between Eli Manning, Devonta Freeman and Stephen Gostkowski for last two spots. I have the 9th pick in 12-team league. I would have Allen and Gostkowski contracts expiring after this year. Will kicker scoring be significantly different with new conversion rules?

Jay Monahan (Cincinnati, OH)

Freeman might be the best running back in Atlanta. I think he will be. They’ve also got Tevin Coleman, but I think Freeman will better. He’s got the advantage of having been around for a year, and he’s much better in the passing game – better in protection, and better catching the ball. He might be a top-20 running back, so I think you keep him. And I think you must also find room for Eli Manning. As well as he played in the second half of last year, I think we must entertain the possibility he very easily could be a top-5 quarterback. Gostkowski, meanwhile, to me looks like just one of the top tier kicker. If you don’t protect him and wind up selecting Crosby or Hauschka, I don’t think you lose much of anything.

Question 5

I'm starting to look at my keepers options in an auction keeper league. The scoring is standard except we do 0.5 PPR and 6 for passing TDs. Salaries increase by $5 incrementally every year. My options (we keep a max of 3) are Joique Bell $10, Golden Tate $13, Big Ben $7, Edelman $10, Gronkowski $43. Right now I think that Bell and Tate are pretty much locks. Running Backs are very hard to come by in this league and go for way too much. I plan to draft Abdullah to hedge Bell as last year I kept Bernard for $29 and didn't draft Hill (Argh)! I was leaning towards Big Ben with my 3rd keeper. I still have plenty of time to decide as keepers won't be due until August, but just wanted your opinion.

Kyle Wells (Arlington, WA)

Edelman, I think, is the first guy you keep. In that kind of system (where he’ll be rewarded for his 100-plus receptions) he weighs in as the 12th wide receiver – 10 spots higher than Tate – and he’s $3 cheaper. With touchdown passes worth 6 points, quarterbacks have more value, so I would make Roethlisberger my second keeper. He’s the 7th quarterback on my board, and you’ve got him tied down for only $7. Joique Bell is a running back, we’ll make him the 3rd keeper.

Question 6

I have just traded for Brock Osweiler in a SUPERFLEX PPR 12 team Dynasty league. I was just wondering your thoughts about his possibility of taking over for Peyton and his future in the league!

MONTE MCDONALD (Las Vegas, NV)

I think Manning’s probably in his last year. He may even go out Favre style, breaking down during this season. So there’s that. But Osweiler hasn’t done anything yet that’s made me believe he’s going to make much of an impact once he takes over. On the dynasty cheat sheet that appears in the magazine, he’s the 36th quarterback on my board.
