The Saints used a second-round pick on Michael Thomas, and although they always seem to have a lot of different potential targets in the passing game, it's possible he'll be used plenty right away. Marques Colston is gone and Brandon Coleman has never lived up to preseason hype. Reception opportunities will be there.

Thus far, Thomas is making an impression on the most important player to make an impression on, Drew Brees.

“If you take a guy who is smart, tough and has a great feel for the game, understands body position, and control, then he’s never really covered,” Brees said. “There’s always places he can use his body where you can throw it where it’s him or nobody. Again, that’s great confidence for a quarterback knowing that I’ve got this outlet, I got this guy that has this range and this feel.”

The Saints have Brandin Cooks and Willie Snead, but they're different types of wideouts. Colston filled a specific role in the passing game, and now that role is available. Good chance for Thomas to be valuable in fantasy leagues.

I'm in the midst of a dynasty rookie draft right now, and I was surprised to see Thomas drafted at No. 3 overall -- after only Ezekiel Elliott and Laquon Treadwell. I would have taken Corey Coleman; maybe Josh Doctson and Sterling Shepard, too. But Thomas is catching people's eye.
